Author Events: Kazuo Ishiguro and Graeme Simsion

Hello everyone πŸ™‚ Last week I attended two author events/signings, which is awesome considering authors rarely come to my area.

The first event was on Tuesday evening, and it was Kazuo Ishiguro with his new book the Buried Giant. I paid for the book with my ticket and picked it up on the night, and the dust jacket had a small rip at the top. I was not happy about that. But the event itself was great. Kazuo Ishiguro read out the first few pages of the book. It sounds really good so far and I really can’t wait to read it. He also talked a bit about his inspiration for the Buried Giant, the idea of doing something so bad that you want to just be able to forget it. Or something like that. I don’t have the best memory. When he was finished talking, he signed books, so I now have a signed first edition of the Buried Giant πŸ™‚

The second event was Graeme Simsion on Sunday afternoon and it was a lot more casual. You didn’t have to buy a ticket and there was tea and cake πŸ™‚ I got there slightly early and Graeme Simsion was already there and willing to sign, so I managed to avoid any large crowds that may have occured, which was great. He signed my books and we had a chat about how we were both born in New Zealand but lived in Australia.

So I now have three more signed books to add to my collection. Hopefully I’ll be adding a lot more in July at YALC. Feel free to leave any comments down below πŸ™‚

WWW Wednesday

Hey guys!Β Welcome to this weeksΒ WWW Wednesday! WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words. All you have to do is answer these three questions: 1)Β What are you currently reading?Β 2) What did you recently finish reading?Β 3) What do you think you’ll read next? So lets get started πŸ™‚

  1. What are you currently reading?Β I am reading The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion. I’ve had this for a while and just hadn’t gotten round to it, but now the author is coming to my local bookshop on the 14th of March so I figured I should read it now. I’m about 100 pages in and I’m really enjoying it so far πŸ™‚
  2. What did you recently finish reading?Β I recently finished Drama byΒ Raina Telgemeier. Its a graphic novel. I’ve read other graphic novels by this author and I really enjoyed them, so I decided to check out this one and I really enjoyed it πŸ™‚
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?Β Next I shall be reading The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion, the sequel to The Rosie Project. Once again, because the author is coming to my city πŸ™‚ Really excited to meet him and apparently there will be cake πŸ˜€

That is all for this weeks WWW Wednesday. I hope you enjoyed, and as always feel free to leave any comments down below πŸ™‚
